E-Resources Discovery Librarian

Clemson Libraries seeks a dynamic, driven, and collaborative eResources Discovery Librarian to ensure access to and discoverability of academic resources for the Clemson University community. This position leads efforts related to the creation and improvement of metadata for electronic resources, including individual and package subscriptions, e-books, demand driven acquisitions, open access resources, streaming resources, and continuing resources. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position and works under the direction of the Head of Metadata Services within the Collections and Discovery division. The minimum salary is $62,000 and based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.

This position will work closely with colleagues in the departments of Metadata Services and Acquisitions and Collections to ensure that Clemson University Libraries maintain an accurate and accessible inventory of its substantial collection of electronic resources, including work related to batch loads, data normalization, and other bibliographic maintenance needs. Clemson Libraries migrated to Alma/Primo VE in June 2020 and is part of a statewide Network Zone that includes 54 other institutions in the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) consortium.

The eResources Discovery Librarian will be responsible for creating and maintaining electronic collections, creating import profiles in Ex Libris Alma for large batches of records, performs quality control on eresource metadata, and develops innovative solutions to improve discoverability of resources.

The successful candidate must have an ALA-accredited graduate degree in librarianship and 1 year of experience with electronic resources management in an academic library. The ideal candidate will have experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE, cataloging and metadata experience, and knowledge of current descriptive and subject cataloging practices.

Legal – Archivist

The Wistar Institute has an opening for an Archivist with oversight of the Wistar Archives and its collection of historical objects and documents. These include artifacts from the original Wistar Museum Collection, records and correspondence, Civil War records and ephemera, and records of The Wistar Institute, its institutional leaders, and scientists.

Duties and responsibilities:

Serve as the institutional point of contact for all internal and external inquiries relating to the Wistar Archives.
Evaluate and preserve records for administrative, historical, legal, and other purposes.
Prepare and maintain record-keeping systems, indexes, guides and procedures for archival research, including developing record cataloguing, coding and classification systems, and monitoring their use.
Identify, examine and classify specimens and objects, and arrange for restoration and preservation work as needed.
Control access to the Wistar Archives and develop procedures for accessing the Wistar Archives.
Manage compliance with federal and local law, including the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990 (NAGPRA).

Teaching and Research Analyst (Term position)

We are currently recruiting for a term position at the OSU HSL, with funding available for up to 3 years. The position does not require an MLS degree, only a bachelor’s degree, and would be a great way for anyone to get experience working with NIH data management and sharing plans and policy.

 

Minimum pay is just below $50K/year, and includes full benefits. At this time, a fully remote option is not available. Two years of relevant experience is required, but we can determine what relevant means. This position will encounter scientific information that will likely be unfamiliar to them, so comfort with learning new things and science is needed.

Duties and Responsibilities: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library seeks an experienced and forward-thinking professional to serve in the position of World Languages Cataloging Coordinator. Reporting to the Head of the Acquisitions and Cataloging Services (ACS) unit, the World Languages Cataloging Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the World Languages Cataloging Team within the unit. This Team is responsible for cataloging materials in multiple languages of Asia, Africa, Europe, the Western Hemisphere, etc. The Coordinator provides leadership within the Library for non-English language cataloging, by collaborating with other units in the Library to determine appropriate workflows and assess ongoing non-English cataloging needs. The Coordinator provides training, documentation, and communication of national rules and standards related to non-English language cataloging and works with others to determine local cataloging policies.

 

Detailed responsibilities include:

–Coordination and management of the World Languages Cataloging Team

Coordinate the overall work of the World Languages Cataloging Team by developing priorities and managing workflows;
Collaborate with faculty and staff in the International & Area Studies Library to assess non-English cataloging needs;
Coordinate world languages cataloging workflows with other library units, including Collection Management Services and International & Area Studies;
Work with colleagues in the unit to create and maintain internal documentation;
Supervise the staff, hourly employees, and student assistants assigned to the World Languages Cataloging Team, including hiring, training, and evaluating team members;
Conduct training and provide documentation for the World Languages Cataloging Team.
— Cataloging of collections in world languages

Perform cataloging for materials in all subject areas using national and local standards, OCLC’s Connexion Client, and the Alma integrated library system;
Contribute authority records to national authority files.
— Contribute to the national and international reputation of the University Library through professional research, service, and collaboration with appropriate colleagues and organizations.

 

Qualifications

Required:

Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program;
Demonstrated expertise in at least one language other than English;
Experience with cataloging in an academic library setting;
Demonstrated knowledge of RDA, LC PCC Policy Statements, AACR2, Library of Congress Subject Headings, Classification systems, MARC 21 bibliographic formats;
Working experience with OCLC bibliographic and authority databases;
Working experience using an integrated library system;

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
