STEAM Summer Camp Instructor

Pitt’s Community Engagement Center in the Hill District is seeking students to support our STEAM Summer Camp Programming *July 24th-28th 9:00a.m.-4:00p.m.

Camp Instructors will assist in leading programming that teaches middle school youth concepts in video game design, podcasting, creative writing, artificial intelligence, and more. Training will be provided to interested volunteers to equip them with tools to deliver this curriculum for the program. Student volunteers may also receive a stipend to support the time commitment to the program.

Information Technology Director

Job Description:

Manage all elements of IT and business systems for BU to ensure stability and efficiency and to anticipate and address business challenges.
Coach, lead and counsel IT team for BU to achieve objectives, support employee development, and manage employee work quality, volume, assignments, communications, performance reviews, wage and salary administration, safety, equal employment opportunity, and discipline.
Work with Management Team for BU to develop and execute IT strategy and identify appropriate use of IT to improve business capabilities and performance.
Drive regular IT audits and risk assessments to increase effectiveness of all IT and business systems and to reduce cost where prudent.
Lead IT due diligence for acquisitions and drive post-acquisition execution and delivery of integration.
Develop and maintain high-performance IT team and business systems.
Provide business analytics to support business growth strategies.
Participate in development of standards and policies related to IT and business systems.
Provide leadership with Sarbanes Oxley compliance standards.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree/equivalent in Computer/Data Science, Computer/Software/Systems Engineering or related; and 7 years supporting multiple locations in leading IT projects and/or teams, including:2 years in multinational (US/UK/Europe), engineering-centered, product development organization
3 years in Six Sigma/LEAN manufacturing environment
1 year ERP implementation
1 year Sarbanes Oxley audit and/or compliance
OR Master’s degree/equivalent and 5 years experience

DS4SJ/CAASI Computer Science Summer Intern

Full time Software developer to support CAASI’s Data Science for Social Justice project. Develops code for CAASI web platform. Work closely with tech program manager and UX designer to implement and test web platforms. Coordinate development with other programmers and develop documentation.

This position will be from 5/1/23-6/30/23.

Prefer experience  with web development and related technologies, specifically: Python, Django, JavaScript, React, CSS, and Docker. Interest in being a full stack developer.

Software Developer

This is a full time hybrid role, working in the office as needed.

Software Developers are responsible for providing system support and learning our specialty pharmacy systems. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of SQL and be a hard-working individual with a willingness to learn.

As a software developer, you will be working in a team-oriented environment, providing support to end-users and collaborating with other developers to troubleshoot and resolve system issues. You will also be responsible for analyzing data and developing SQL queries to retrieve information from our databases.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides support for our specialty pharmacy systems and assists end-users with system-related issues
  • Collaborates with other developers to troubleshoot and resolves system issues
  • Develops SQL queries to retrieve information from our databases
  • Assists in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications
  • Develops and executes test plans to ensure system functionality

Required Qualifications Include:

Position Summary:

The individual in this role is responsible for sales growth of Motion Control and Fluid Handling Products, including industrial connectors, hydraulics, and pneumatics in an assigned territory.  The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing sales and relationships at existing accounts as well as developing new business within the same accounts.  Additionally, the Key Account Manager must be capable of identifying new accounts within the territory and implementing sales plans to capitalize on opportunities that exist within these accounts.

BNY Mellon – Audit Technology Services – Summer Intern

Intern – BNY MELLON – Internal Audit Division/Audit Technical Services Team (Remote Position)

The Audit Technical Service team (ATS) is responsible for administration of all technical systems used by the Internal Audit Department.   This includes developing software, installing and configuring vendor packages, implementing enhancements as well as the daily maintenance and support of critical systems.   As an Intern with ATS you will have the opportunity to work closely with a team of IT professionals and have firsthand experience with the support and development of corporate systems.

The qualified individual should be enrolled in a 4-year degree program and must have a minimum QPA of 3.0.   Typically, the incumbent will be a junior or senior in the upcoming school year with a major in Information Systems or Computer Science. He/she will possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.  Strong communication and organizational skills are a must.  He/she should be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.

Experience with some of the following languages and technologies are preferred, but not required: Java, XML, HTML, relational databases (specifically, MS SQL, and MS Access); .net; Visual Basic; C++. A familiarity with various data analysis tools is a plus.

 

Summer Intern

Undergraduates seeking an in-depth summer research experience should consider the American Student Placements in Rehabilitation Engineering (ASPIRE) program at the Human Engineering Research Laboratories.

ASPIRE is a ten-week research program at the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL) Sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Emphasis on research in the rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology fields. In addition to full participation in an on-going HERL research project, students are presented with numerous opportunities for personal and professional development via faculty workshops. ASPIRE participants will write a project paper, develop a poster, and compete in an elevator pitch competition based on their research assignment.  The program concludes with the Final Symposium where the winners of the best paper, poster, and elevator pitch are recognized.

PROJECT: Animation & Gamification in Human Motor Learning

RECOMMENDED SKILLS: Proficiency with programming languages/tools employed in simulation and game development (e.g., computer graphics, 2D or 3D animation & rendering, etc.)

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project seeks to better understand how the nervous system controls voluntary movement and explores a method to enhance motor learning. A simulation already developed in MatLab uses the force applied to a sensor as a control signal. Building on the existing simulation, the goal of this internship experience is to “gamify” the simulation and make it more engaging for human subjects. No existing knowledge of physiology, biology, neuroscience, etc. is necessary, but prospective candidates will have the opportunity to gain exposure to these disciplines as part of research involving human subjects with and without neurological injury.

UX designer

Requirements:

An UX designer, with a portfolio of digital products that demonstrate a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and practices.
Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, and InVision.
Strong understanding of web and mobile development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, and to communicate design ideas and solutions effectively.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or Information Science.
