Career Resources

The following resources are meant to be self-guided and reflect the various stages in the career development process, ranging from considering what to do with your major to searching for jobs before graduation.

In addition, it can be useful to know what resources are available to you as an SCI student in case you have any follow-up questions or need tailored advice.

Career Services

Each student in SCI has access to a dedicated Career Consultant through Pitt’s Career Center. They can provide expertise and guidance regarding any of the topics listed above in either a scheduled appointment or during their drop-ins or office hours. To contact your Career Consultant, check out the directory here.

Experiential Learning

SCI provides several different ways you can get involved in activities outside of the classroom. Check out the experiential learning page here to learn more.

Handshake

While SCI has its own internal job board, Handshake is the career services platform that houses the majority of job and internship postings the university receives, as well as events, an employer directory, and is how you would schedule an appointment with your SCI Career Consultant. For a guide on how to best use your account (accessed via the my.pitt.edu portal), check out this article here.
